Development Planing

The development of the department is explained in terms of teaching and research.

The teaching aspect is based on the manpower required for national construction and development as the main axis of curriculum planning, and in accordance with the characteristics of the department and the field of teacher research, the teaching objectives are divided into three aspects: geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, and water resources engineering. The curriculum planning of this department strengthens the internship and on-site internship courses to meet the educational goals of professionalism in schools.

In addition, in order to achieve the goal of holistic education in schools, the curriculum includes a variety of general education courses, engineering ethics, etc., while internationalized education goals strengthen students’ foreign language education and require language thresholds for students to graduate.

The development priorities in each area are briefly described as follows:

Structural Engineering:

1. Civil structure safety inspection, damage and analysis.

2. Construction material measurement automation.

3. Research and development and optimization of professional systems for civil structure engineering.

4. Research on structural non-destructive detection method.

Geotechnical Engineering:

1. Analysis and research on engineering properties of geosynthetics.

2. The application of GIS and GPS in geodetic engineering.

3. Application and development of on-site test technology.

4. Geotechnical numerical method applied to the analysis of geotechnical engineering.

5. Research on rock engineering characteristics and excavation-free method.

Water Resources Engineering:

1. Study on the combined use of surface water and groundwater resources in the southern region.

2. Discussion on site subsidence and seawater intrusion in coastal areas.

3. Non-destructive detection of structures in water.

4. Application of geographic information system combined with GPS in water resources management.

5. Research on construction technology of river channel construction with ecological engineering.

In terms of research, the Department has set up a civil engineering technical service center and a construction and water resources engineering technical service center to meet the needs of national economic development to provide technical consulting and services related to civil engineering.

In order to lay the foundation and the depth and breadth of applied scientific research, the teachers of this department actively participate in research projects subsidized or commissioned by the central government such as the National Science Council, the Agricultural Committee, the Water Resources Agency, the Ministry of Education, and local county and city governments and private institutions And actively published the research results in well-known journals or seminars at home and abroad.
